This is why every office should have a dog!
It has now become part of my morning routine, alongside grabbing a coffee and answering my emails, to give some fuss and get some cuddles from Kyla the office dog.
My boss must enjoy seeing a smile on my face when he walks through the door, but I don’t have the heart to tell him that it’s because he brings the dog in. Sorry, Matt.
I am usually her first port of call as I seem to have become like a stepdad to her. Considering I’m in a job where I sit down and stare at a screen, I like to take 5 minutes to get out of the office and have regular breaks, so I have become the resident dog walker. Now, whenever I leave the office, I always have the dog in tow.
As a kid, living on a farm, I’ve grown up around dogs and at one point, we had 7 dogs and a litter of puppies, so it’s a good job I like them!
Having Kyla in the office is like having my own dog (with the amount of time I’m in the office) but without some of the downsides – vet bills, pet insurance, accidents in the house, etc.
It’s also a great thing for any clients who happen to be dog lovers as well. Suspiciously, we’ve had more clients coming to the office for appointments than in previous months, as we’ll do business at the client’s house, or over the phone or via zoom. I’m assuming they’ve seen the MANY pictures we have plastered over social media and want to meet the little fluff.
She’s only a few months old, so she still has a lot of growing to do, but has already doubled in size and it is apparent that she’s going to be a BIG dog!
She nips, she chews stuff, and she whines a little bit when Matt or I leave the room, but there are so many positives to having a puppy in the office, that the negatives are easy to look past.
She provides us all with endless entertainment, unconditional love, and plenty of compliments from passers-by.
Every office needs a dog.
