Being 30 and starting again!
For many people, it's almost impossible to imagine being 30 and starting again. For me though, this is exactly what happened when I separated from my partner of 10 years after only 5 months of purchasing our second family home in February 2022. A year later, and the sale of said family home completed on 27th February 2023. My daughter and I are back living with my Mum (sorry Mum!) until im in a position to purchase again. Fortunately I work in the best industry for someone in this situation as I have an estate agency and mortgage brokerage to hand.
You're 30 and starting again.
To begin with, I felt completely deflated by this – not owning my own house, being back with parents, 4-year-old in tow, all squashed in to a standard 3 bed house after being fortunate enough to purchase our first house at the age of 23. BUT, life happens, and that’s okay.
My biggest concern was ‘am I ever going to be able to afford a mortgage alone?’ and you know what? The answer is yes. ANYHTING is possible when you want it badly enough. Work hard, save hard, plan your outgoings, and keep what you can to a minimum. Get yourself a good mortgage broker who can guide you through what you need and what you can afford (yes, obviously this is me telling you to come to us at RBM!)
Set yourself a financial goal whether that be weekly, monthly, or annually and don’t lose sight of it. If you’re in any doubt or have questions, ask us. There are ways around almost every situation, believe me. I have worked with Matt for just over 3 years now and it’s outstanding some of the things we’ve achieved for people who thought they’d lost all hope. Stop wondering and start doing; believe you can, and you will. We’re a great bunch (albeit a tad nutty) and we’ll look after you. We’ve got your back, just like I know they’ve got mine.
Moral of the story; It is important to keep trying even when life throws you curve balls.
