📢 Important SDLT Update! 📢
Stamp Duty Land Tax Changes – What You Need to Know
As of 1 April 2025, significant changes are coming to the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) thresholds that could impact how much you pay when purchasing a property. Here’s a breakdown of the key changes and what you need to consider.
What’s Changing?
The threshold for paying SDLT on residential transactions will reduce from £250,000 to £125,000.
The threshold for claiming First-Time Buyer Relief will reduce from £425,000 to £300,000.
These changes could result in higher costs for property buyers, particularly for those completing transactions after the new thresholds take effect.
Key Considerations
Completion Date Matters: The new thresholds apply to transactions that complete on or after 1 April 2025, regardless of when contracts are exchanged.
Plan Your Timeline: Property transaction timelines can vary due to factors such as legal processes, mortgage approvals, and survey results. It’s essential to plan ahead if you want to avoid the new thresholds.
Our Role and Responsibility
At RBM Solutions and ROK Marsh, we work to facilitate smooth and timely transactions. However, please note that we cannot control all aspects of the timeline. Buyers are responsible for any additional SDLT liability incurred due to delays.
